Commitment to innovative & sustainable seed products

All the seeds in Corteva’s portfolio – corn, soybean, canola, cotton, sunflower, and others – and the breeding technology used to create each hybrid and variety – are subject to oversight by relevant regulatory bodies, including in the U.S. by USDA, EPA and FDA, and equivalent regulatory authorities around the world. We are transparent about the breeding methods we used to develop our products, both with regulators, our farmer customers and the public.

Corteva uses techniques such as selective breeding, genetic modification and gene editing to improve the seeds farmers use to grow the food we eat, the grain used to feed livestock, and the agricultural products we use in our daily lives. These techniques result in plants with desirable traits, including disease resistance, insect and weed control, and drought tolerance. Our seed innovations are designed to help maximize farm productivity and sustainability.

During the development process, our seed products undergo thorough testing to ensure they deliver their intended characteristics and performance, and to evaluate safely to human or animal health or the environment. Requirements differ among individual countries, but to ensure global regulatory compliance, we put all biotech seed products through extensive testing in our research labs, greenhouses, as well as in field trials.
