Cornel B. Fuerer is Senior Vice President, General Counsel of Corteva Agriscience.
Cornel joined DuPont in 1995 as an attorney in Switzerland. From 1995 through 1999, Cornel counselled several of the company’s business units in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2000, he transferred to the DuPont Hong Kong offices, advising several business units in the Asia Pacific region, mostly on mergers and acquisitions. In 2004, he relocated to Wuppertal, Germany, and was appointed Legal Manager for Germany advising DuPont’s Automotive Coatings unit. From 2007 to 2012, Cornel relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, to serve as the Vice President, General Counsel and Company Secretary of Solae, and then a food ingredients joint venture between DuPont and Bunge. From 2012 to 2013, Cornel served as the Corporate Secretary of DuPont.
In 2013, Cornel relocated to Johnston, Iowa, to serve as DuPont associate general counsel with responsibility for the legal affairs of DuPont Pioneer, a role later expanded to also include responsibilities for DuPont’s crop protection business and DuPont’s trademark and Canadian legal organizations. From the end of 2015 until closing of the merger between Dow and DuPont on September 1, 2017, Cornel was also responsible for receipt of global regulatory approvals required in connection with that merger, from the U.S. Department of Justice, the European Commission and antitrust authorities in more than 20 additional countries.
Cornel earned his law degree from the University of Geneva School of Law and holds a master’s degree from the New York University School of Law.
